Does Red Bring Wealth For Everyone?

Not everyone thinks the color red brings luck for Westerners. Feng Shui author Suzanne Hilton maintains that the color red is not as lucky for Western practitioners as it is for the Chinese.

In China the color red symbolizes good luck however in the United States “being in the red” represents a financial challenge. It is the color of “stop” in this culture and her theory is that it might inhibit chi.

To balance this all out she suggests that use use red in conjunction with green. These are complimentatry colors that symbolize fire and wood together and represent a positive cycle of energy.

Flowers For Valentines Day

Sponsored post:

The other thing I love about Valentine’s Day is flowers. If I get roses I will quite often save them for making rose water (see previous post). I seem to get flowers a lot more often now there are services such as online flower delivery – it makes it so much easier for them doesn’t it? Men can just log on to the site and order flowers at any time to suit them… no more rushing to the flower shop, or having to think to pre-order for occasions like Valentines. They can even get email reminders sent on key dates such as birthdays and anniversaries to remind them… I think it is cheating somewhat! But I do like to getting flowers more often :)

How To Make Rose Water

Making rose water is really simple but it does not last that long. It only lasts about two weeks after which it starts to ferment. You should keep it in the refrigerator for best results

Use freshly picked rose petals that have been picked early in the morning before the hot sun gets to them. Place in a bottle and pour boiling water over it. Shake vigourously and let it sit overnight. Drain off the petals the next day and set aside the liquid. Use as desired for cooking, anti-aging toner or as an after-bath refresher.
