Feng Shui and Color Combinations

There is a very little known component of Feng Shui that I find vey interesting. It is about which combinations of color are lucky or unlucky.

As you may know each element is amplified by it sown colors

The element of  Water is symbolized by black purple and blue.

Earth is symbolized by light yellow, mustard colors and ochre.

Metal is symbolized by white, silver,  gold and bronze

Fire is symbolized by red, orange, purple and pink

Wood is symbolized by brown and green hues

However  some feng shui masters take this even further citing lucky and unlucky color combinations when it comes to arranging objects. For instance having two red tulips and one white in a flower arrangement would be considered unlucky but two reds tulips and one yellow would be considered lucky.

Examples of Feng Shui Color Combinations that Bring Good Luck are

Two reds and one yellow

Two yellows and one white

Two whites and one blue

Two blues and one green

Two browns and one red

Unlucky combinations are

Two reds and one white

Two whites and one green

Two greens and one yellow

Two yellows and one blue

Two blues and one red

Think about all this the next time you consider painting your kitchen cupboards ! lol

Feng Shui and Staircases

In classical Feng Shui, staircases are known as a potential source of shar chi (bad energy.)  As the house corresponds to both the body and the mind, staircases are considered to be vertical openings from which good energy can escape and bad energy can leak in. Perhaps the worst place to have staircase is in the center of your home, which is the equivalent of having no emotional or grounding center in your life.

It is also negative to have a staircase that opens directly onto the front door. Depending on where the staircase leads to it can cause good energy to “tumble down the stairs” and escape out the front door. For instance if you have an office that is located at the top of staircase your profits may tumble out of the house. If you have a front door that faces to the west, this type of staircase can also cause infidelity or adultery. If it faces to the south you could have problems with your reputation or credibility.

To minimize the damaging shar chi caused by staircases, you should build one that is as curvaceous as possible. The harshest luck comes from staircases that are perfectly lit. Hanging chimes, mirrors  (just remember not to reflect the staircase itself) and keeping the stairwell very well lit can also mitigate the bad luck that comes with most staircases.

PROPER FOUNTAIN PLACEMENT

One mistake that beginning practitioners of Feng Shui often make is to think that a fountain is an all-purpose cure. This is because of the flow of water’s reputation for bringing good chi for an area however this is not true of every sector in your house.    Good places to put a fountain are:    At the front door, especially if it I faces the Southeast, North or East. However if you are single don’t place the fountain to your right as you look out the front door as that placement can hamper the finding of a mate (you will be rich but lonely!)

In the north sector of your office or living room to draw wealth    Places to avoid putting a fountain are:

The bedroom …in fact it is bad chi to have your bed in a second floor spot that is directly above the first floor spot of a fountain. It inhibits prosperity and causes nightmares.    In any enclosed space such as a big closet, a nook with dropping eaves or underneath a stairway as this can cause illness and misfortune.

To the right of a fireplace or a stove. The water element will consume the fire element causing poverty.    Peace be still, Sam
