Smell Like An Egyptian Queen

Have you ever wondered what kind of perfume Cleopatra used to wear?  In ancient Egypt there were only a few essential oils available to make perfumes so it is fairly easy to replicate the kind of scents that Eygptian Queens and courtesans used to wear. Furthermore you can buy these essential oils, which are still made in Egypt and make your own.

The essential oils that were commonly used in Egypt to make perfume were:

Black Cumin Essential Oil (that has a bit of a pungent, sharp and medicinal odor)

Rose Geranium Essential Oil  (a light and peppery scent)

Violet Absolute Essential Oil (smells like African violets)

Cassia Pure Absolute (smells like a richer, more smothering and powder like version of Myrrh)

To get an idea of what Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile, smelled like back in the days when Rome ruled the world try mixing these oils with a carrier oil and applying it to your skin or putting it in your bath.

Peace Be Still, Sam

Essential Oil Is Not Really Perfume!

Just because a company or an individual owns an aromatherapy site, it doesn’t mean that they are ethical about their products. One humongous scam is the selling of essential oil perfumes. Technically there can be no so such thing.

According to Martin Watt who did an excellent article on this subject for Aromatherapy magazine there are several fraudulent marketing practices that you should watch out for when buying these so called essential oil perfumes.

First of all if a perfume compound is marketed as essential oil then the company is lying to you.

If the product claims to be natural yet contains a mixture of synthetic and pure essential oils that is also false advertising.

If a product contains a mix of essential oils then it is known as an essential oil compound, not a perfume.

If it contains alcohol or other solvents then the essential oil is a fragrance, not an essential oil perfume.

Another thing to watch out for are essential oils that are marketed as Grade No. 1 but in fact it is low grade. According to Martin Watt it is very common to find low grades of essential oils that are sold as premier grades. This is because buying fragrance compounds or low-grade essential oils, and reselling them as top quality products can make massive profits. Unfortunately this is all too common. Here is an example of the kind of labeling you should look for click here  Even the product is marketing itself as a perfume essence it is technically an essential oil because it contains no alcohol.

As with all things derived from nature, some essential oils are considered hazardous, and under certain circumstances, should be avoided. Some are phototoxic, neurotoxic, or carcinogenic, and safety precautions should always be considered when working with and administering any essential oil.

Real Gardenia Oil Is Not For Sale

Gardenia essential oil is one of the most powerful love attracting scents that is known to mankind. The waxy white flowers of the Gardenia shrub have an almost overwhelming fragrance and just a petal or two is so aromatic it is worth about $700 per ounce, which is way beyond the ordinary aromafiend’s budget. Therefore the gardenia oil that we commonly buy in stores is never real. It is completely synthetic and lacking in the aphrodisiac and euphoric qualities that are properties of the real thing. The second most expensive oil is probably rose attar.

The only real gardenia oil that is remotely affordable that is sold on the internet seems to be made by a company called victorie-inc and even that oil is infused in coconut oil. At least this type of oil would have some molecules in it that are capable of penetrating the limbic system and producing a truly beneficial mood altering effect. If I find a site that sells wholesale gardenia oil for an affordable price I will be sure to let you know in this space. In the meantime the stuff sold on is only six bucks but comparing the two is like comparing a bottle of apple cider vinegar to champagne.

Common commercial perfumes that are supposed to contain gardenia oil include Gardenia by Elizabeth Taylor, Gardenia Perfume by Chanel and Tuvache Gardenia Perfume. However the prices on these perfumes are so low it would be hard to convince anyone that they contain any real gardenia oil, only some kind of synthetic fragrance. Sam
