So I was greatly interested when I ran across a liquer called Farigoule Thyme liquor. This is one of those ancient French liquers, devised by monks that is created from fresh young wild thyme that is picked at the beginning of a summer.

It is good on its own or mixed with a bit of brandy or soda.

According to an article in the Boston Globeby Liza Weisstuch (Feb 15,2006, the latest craze in cocktails are aromatherapy cocktails.

Apparently a clever bartender at a place called OM in Boston is creating drinks spiked with essential oils. Edible oils are used to create simple syrups (bound with sugar) or combined with warm vermouth and used as spritzers that are sprayed on the top of the drink.

Some of the aromatherapy cocktails are the RoseMaya which is essentially gin topped with a spritz of rose essence and garnished with cucumber. There is also The Essential Martini which is made with vodka and a spritz of jasmine (to increase one’s confidence and self esteem.)

This creative bartender also makes a cosmopolotan (vodka and cranberry) that is boosted with lavender oil and a champagne cocktail tinged with a taste of ginger.

This was such as interesting concept I thought I would pass it on to you. Just remember that if you decide to dabble on this that you should only use food grade essential oils or floral waters.

Peace Be Still SAM
