Does The Demotion of Pluto Affect It’s Meaning In Astrology?



Will the demotion of Pluto affect the way astrology is divined in the future? The answer is probably not. The reason is that celestial bodies such as asteroids and moons are already configured into most horoscope readings. Even if it is called a dwarf planet, it’s influence in a person’s natal chart or with regards to transits will probably remain the same. It is also not likely that the symbolism of Pluto is likely to change in any way, which is of course an important aspect of astrology. In fact calling it a dwarf planet kind of fits as the planet represents regression and the smaller (shadow) side of ourselves. This would be the wounded child that we don’t recognize in ourselves yet brings out issues of control in relationships.

  

At any rate it will be interesting to see how the astrological community at large handles the definition of Pluto in their language and iconography.

Capricorns will experienced the 2006 Neptune retrograde in their twelfth house which will create circumstances that will make them want to retreat into a fantasy world. Problems that have remained secret for years, such as criminal activity or addictions may  have come to light.

Neptune Retrograde and Pollution



The good news is that Neptune, which has been retrograde since May 22nd of this year finally goes forward today. Neptune is a plane that symbolizes water.  However Neptune is also the planet of shadows and secrets. It rules cameras, the theater and when it is nicely aspected it casts glory on the film and photography industries. It is also the planet that rules oil. As a retrograde always means instability it is not surprising that we saw wildly fluctuating oil prices during this retrograde period.  Retrograde Neptune is also symbolic of pollution, especially water pollution and global warming; both are important issues this year.

 
All I can say is thank God this phase is about to end. Maybe they will get around to cleaning up New Orleans which is a stinking stew of toxins.
