Aromatherapy and Cocktails!

According to an article in the Boston Globeby Liza Weisstuch (Feb 15,2006, the latest craze in cocktails are aromatherapy cocktails.

Apparently a clever bartender at a place called OM in Boston is creating drinks spiked with essential oils. Edible oils are used to create simple syrups (bound with sugar) or combined with warm vermouth and used as spritzers that are sprayed on the top of the drink.

Some of the aromatherapy cocktails are the RoseMaya which is essentially gin topped with a spritz of rose essence and garnished with cucumber. There is also The Essential Martini which is made with vodka and a spritz of jasmine (to increase one’s confidence and self esteem.)

This creative bartender also makes a cosmopolotan (vodka and cranberry) that is boosted with lavender oil and a champagne cocktail tinged with a taste of ginger.

This was such as interesting concept I thought I would pass it on to you. Just remember that if you decide to dabble on this that you should only use food grade essential oils or floral waters.

Peridot and Prosperity

The prosperity drawing powers of the gemstone Peridot are often greatly overlooked. This bright green gem, which is also known as olivine or chrysolite, is rarer but much less expensive than buying the king of all welath drawing stones - the emerald.  Peridots come from Pakistan, Australia, The Red Sea, Hawaii and Arizona.

The peridot is thought to supercharge the atmosphere and your aura with propserity consciousness. It opens you up and makes you more willing to receive so it is a good stone to wear to work. In addition this semi-precious stone dispels fear and negative energy and aligns your heart with your will so your wealth comes to you as the result of good actions and deeds.

Aromatic Garden Herbs

It is possible to turn your  back yard into an aromatherapy spa. This is especially true on a hot sunny humid day which encourages the scent of common gardern herbs to disperse through the air.

Some herbs definitely smell stronger than others.  Rosemary is a sun loving herb that is invigorating and head clearing. Lavender, especially spike lavender fills your garden with a gorgeous honey like scent that is especially calming. Other aromatic herbs include oregano, marjoram, laurel, lemon balm, basil and thyme.

One of the strongest smelling herbs you can plant is mint. However it is a good idea to keep this herb confined to a pot as it spreads fast and can choke out the  other herbs and plants in your garden.
